How to use Motion Sense on your Google Pixel 4 smartphone

The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones are already on sale. One of the new features that these devices have is called Motion Sense. This is a gesture-based system that uses the new Soli Radar chip. You don’t need to do anything special to activate Motion Sense on your Google Pixel 4 phone, but functionality is still limited. I expect Google to add software updates to this feature list in the coming months. These are the coolest things you can do with Motion Sense today.

How to Control Music Playback

Motion windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings Sense can be used to control playback in music and video applications. The functionality at the moment is pretty simple, but it is really useful if you have dirty hands - for example, when you cook - and you just want to quickly skip the track without messing up the screen.

Simply swipe your finger across the top of the pixel to jump to another song in the playlist or album you are listening to. Swipe to the left will display the new track, and swipe to the right will return the previous song. There is currently no way to play or pause music using Motion Sense.

Motion Sense works with most music applications, including Spotify, Deezer and, of course, YouTube Music.

How to Mute Alerts

One of the coolest implementations of the new Soli Radar processor is that it can be used to mute alerts. You do not need to do anything special to see this in action, it should happen naturally - at least, such a chip was created initially.

When your Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL gives an alert, while you reach your smartphone, the processor above will recognize your hand and decrease the volume of the signal. You can also use the same swipe movement that you did to change music tracks.

In the current state of affairs, both left and right scrolling will simply mute the warning signal, and not turn it off completely. This seems like a missed opportunity for Google, but hopefully new features will be added through a software update soon.

How to Reject Incoming Calls

Like alarms, you can use Motion Sense to reject phone calls coming to your Pixel 4 smartphone. The process is very simple. Simply swipe your finger across the display in any direction as soon as a call is displayed on the screen to reject it.

In practice, such an action will only turn off the sound, and the call itself will remain on your screen, while you can still answer it if you have a desire. There is currently no way to answer a call with Motion Sense, but who knows what the future holds for us.

How to Interact with Wallpapers

One of the newer ways to use Motion Sense on your new Google Pixel is to interact with new wallpapers. By now, you have probably already seen Pixel Pikachu wallpapers - they are on the Internet, as well as in the reviews of this smartphone - but did you know that you can actually interact with them?

By swiping your finger on your smartphone (or waving) with Pikachu active wallpapers, you can make a cute yellow Pokemon wave in response. This, of course, makes little sense, but it's fun.
